A short overview of our history...

The "Ruettenscheider Hof " is a reminder of the first development stages of one of the most beautiful parts of Essen. When Ruettenscheid was suburbanised in 1905, the city of Essen committed itself by contract to rebuild streets and squares. An architects contest was set up in order to rebuild the „Ruettenscheider Platz“, which also formed the building site for the „Ruettenscheider Hof“. Over the past 100 years, the „Ruettenscheider Markt“ and „Ruettenscheider Hof“ have achieved a good reputation.
The "Ruettenscheider Hof" has been run by Mr. Heinz Arnolds and his family since 1967. Heinz Arnolds derived from an old family of gastronomers in Essen. He was a board member of the Essen hotel and gastronomy district association and the gastronomers brotherhood "Confrerie des Maitres de la Table". He gained international experience by working for large hotels in New York, Miami Beach, Accapulco and Paris.
